Potsdam-based signage and décor specialist, Print1, became one of the first Canon customers in Europe to install Océ Touchstone following its launch in May 2018 and is already realising the benefits of being able to deliver high value textured applications. The company, a long-standing Océ Arizona flatbed user, was looking to differentiate its services from larger competitors in the greater Berlin area, and to expand its product portfolio with more unique and customised applications.

Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (Nasdaq:EFII) has announced that PDI Large Format Solutions (www.pdi-gf.com), a subsidiary of Montreal-based PDI Group Inc., is the first business in Canada to install both the next-generation, high-end flatbed/roll-fed EFI™ VUTEk® h3 superwide-format LED printer, and the new EFI VUTEk 3r+ roll-to-roll LED printer. The company has also purchased and installed an EFI VUTEk FabriVU® 340i soft signage printer. This significant technology upgrade gives PDI Large Format Solutions the platform to drive growth over the next few years.

Having started out as a 40m2 architectural studio in Jaén, southern Spain, specialising in the design and production of architectural plans, Oedim saw an opportunity to expand into the growing wide format market. 23 years on, Oedim now occupies a 14,000m2 facility from which it operates two distinct brands. One of these is Oedim, which is responsible for the production of large format printed flexible materials, including canvas, vinyl and textiles, while the other is Clickprinting, which specialises in direct printing onto rigid substrates, such as PVC, aluminium and corrugated board.

A mediocre, Contex-alternative scanner created a host of challenges for Dynamic Reprographics. Image quality issues and a non-intuitive interface made scanning projects of all sizes frustrating for the repro shop and its customers. Some large projects couldn’t even be accepted because the post-scanning editing time was cost prohibitive.

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that its state-of-the-art broadcast lenses will be capturing the action at Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, Texas—the country’s largest esports stadium. To outfit the stadium’s 4K UHD broadcast cameras, the City of Arlington purchased three Canon UHD-DIGISUPER 66 4K UHD field box lenses, four CJ24ex7.5B 4K UHD telephoto zoom lenses and one CJ14ex4.3B 4K UHD wide angle zoom lens.

At marcolor, color is more than just part of the firm’s name. Take a look at the website of this young company—which is just over two year’s old—and what you’ll find is freshness, innovation and inventiveness, together with the slogan, "we love print". Few people can make such a claim as convincingly as the managing director, Marc Thullen. For many years he was the production manager of what was the Stuco printing plant in the small Eifel town of Speicher but then, in the spring of 2016, such is his belief in the future of print, he bought the printing operation from Stuco, renamed it marcolor, and now runs it as an independent. UV waterless offset is one of marcolor’s key production technologies and since 2017 it has relied on the Zahara plate from Verico Technology.
