Summa is adding a new feeder option to our L Series Laser cutters! We have partnered with Caron Technology S.r.l. to offer you the Caron cradle feeder. The combination of a Caron cradle feeder and Summa laser cutter creates the perfect automatic cutting workflow, making your textile production incredibly efficient while adding to the high cutting quality.

Creating an efficient and high-quality automatic cutting workflow
The main job of the Caron cradle feeder is to facilitate and speed up the loading and changing of the media onto the Summa L1810 laser cutter. It is designed to make it as effortless as possible for the operator:
Step 1: Loading The Media
The cradle lowers and tips down towards the operator, making loading and changing the media easier and less taxing. You also don’t need a media core to attach the fabric to the machine, which is a good solution as core holders are known to break occasionally. You can simply put the roll in the cradle without a core.
Step 2: Through The Feeder
When the media is fed through, the feeder ensures it is evenly distributed without displacing it or creating wrinkles. In fact, the media is fed through belts specifically designed to accommodate stretchy materials such as sportswear.
Step 3: From Feeder to Laser Cutter
Once the media is fed through, the fabric is tensionless and perfectly laid out to start cutting right at the beginning of the material, preventing media waste. Compared to other dereelers, also called unwinders, which require feeding a long section of the fabric before you can start cutting, the Caron cradle feeder ensures the material is in the best condition and position to be cut immediately.
The Advantages Of A Caron Cradle Feeder
The Caron cradle feeder has several unique benefits:
Easy and ergonomic loading and switching of the media, thanks to the feeder's ability to tip down towards the operator.
There’s no need for a media core holder. You simply place the media without a core holder in the feeder.
Tensionless feeding at higher levels.
Reducing media waste as the pre-feed distance is decreased to 10 cm.
Special belts are installed to handle elastic fabrics.
The feeder can handle rolls weighing up to 100 kg, which is far more than standard dereelers can.
The roll diameter is 80 cm, and it handles a media width of 180 cm.
Adding to the unique advantages of the Caron cradle feeder, it has all the features typical of standard dereelers. It ensures an automatic feed of the media onto the cutter. The system detects the edges of the media and automatically aligns the fabric for a constant media feed. These features allow the L1810 laser cutter to finish the job even more precisely.
Each L1810 generation 2 unit complies with the Caron cradle feeder, connecting the equipment seamlessly thanks to a new electronic board. The Caron cradle feeder will be available through the Summa resellers.
