A landmark 256 square metre, 1.5mm pixel pitch LED deployment at the STC facility in Riyadh

NEC Display Solutions Europe has signed an agreement with Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to install a 256 square metre, 1.5 mm pixel pitch dvLED display, one of the world’s largest LED control room displays, within their main Network Operating Centre. In addition, the agreement includes installation of 200 video wall displays and smaller LED screens in their SOC at the Unified Network Operation Centre (UNOC) at the STC campus in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. STC is one of the largest Telecommunications and Digital Services providers in the Middle East.

NEC’s comprehensive involvement in the project includes design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the vast video wall. Working in partnership with Saudi Media Systems, NEC will be responsible for the supply and installation of around 216 video wall units, several meeting room displays, as well as further smaller LED solutions. It will also provide the complete back end processors for the successful functioning of the UNOC.

“Our agreement with STC represents a landmark project that highlights NEC’s status as one of the very few manufacturers in the world that is capable of providing complete custom made display solutions to government entities and major companies. NEC covers the entire aspect of the project, starting from feasibility studies, design and manufacture to installation, testing and commissioning. We select the right display technology and the appropriate back end processing solution for not just network operation centres but also data centres, control rooms and security operation centres,” says Bernd Eberhardt, CEO of NEC Display Solutions GmbH.

“STC is happy to partner with NEC Display Solutions in the provision of a complete turnkey solution for the successful functioning of the UNOC. The agreement reflects STC’s constant efforts to build strategic partnerships with global entities to provide world-class digital services and innovative solutions to our customers, enabling the digital transformation of the Kingdom,” says Abdullah Al Mazrou, GM, Buildings and Fleet Management at STC.

As a total display solutions company, NEC offers the widest portfolio of visualisation solutions on the market today, alongside a reputation for outstanding quality and reliability. NEC’s deep understanding of the multi-faceted complexity of the control room environment makes it a trusted partner to deploy adaptable, future proof AV/IT solutions which correspond to the critical need for continuous reliable 24/7 system availability, backed by long term product and service support.

“Our project with STC is typical of many bespoke control room and monitoring systems that we have deployed, where NEC’s uniquely flexible software controller is the linchpin governing any number and variety of NEC displays,” confirms Stephen Wair, NEC account manager for control room solutions in the UK. “For large, medium or small control room or monitoring applications, NEC is able to offer a complete, tailored solution.”

NEC’s new demonstration facility within its UK sales office in Middlesex is fully equipped from its latest Large Format and Desktop LCD, Projection and dvLED ranges, alongside software and computing solutions. An FA Series dvLED wall is positioned alongside a 2 x 2 55” LCD video wall, driven by the Hiperwall IP-based management system, enabling visitors to gain a full understanding of the benefits of an NEC solution. This control room scenario includes two 34” curved EX341R desktop displays, side by side for an immersive operator experience.
