Digital textile printing continues to push not only boundaries of innovation but also business alliances. 2014 seems to be a year of consolidation and acquisitions for the digital textile printing industry, which could intensify the competition in the industry to offer more comprehensive technology and services to the industry.

Plastic Logic, experts in the development and industrialisation of flexible organic electronics, has shown the second in its series of all-plastic flexible AMOLED display demonstrators.

Building on the first demonstrator, shown at the Flextech Conference in Phoenix, AZ in February, the new display features an increased brightness, 256 grey levels, and full 30fps image rendering. The display offers further proof that organic transistor technology offers display makers the best path to truly flexible, ultra-thin, lightweight AMOLEDs, and is the world's first all-organic AMOLED display made using a toolkit of processing capabilities already proven industrially.

People can see a difference in 4K resolution compared to 1080i, 1080p and 720p HD images.

In very non-technical terms it is deeper, richer, more satisfying.

The first show 2014 in the worldwide graphic arts calendar has set the bar high in terms of what is to be expected in our industry in the upcoming year.

Although by many considered a regional show, SGI by now is putting themselves onto the worldwide calendar for signage production, large format and textile printing as well as fleet graphics market. More than 400 exhibitors from the region and abroad showcased their product portfolios whereby not only equipment for the whole production cycle but also new and innovative applications could be seen. The expected visitor number of 10,000 was definitely not set too low as the aisles have been bustling with activity during the 3-day-event and quite a lot of equipment was sold directly from the show floor indicating the growing opportunities within this sector of print. No matter whether a visitor was on the outlook for large format printers, finishing equipment, workflow, consumables or further sophisticated machinery – all could be found at the World Trade Center.
