Global players trust in agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria - the leading food-tec and packaging event in April 2016 in Lagos

The Nigerian agrofood and plastprintpack sectors become ever more attractive for international suppliers. Reasons for this are the efforts of Nigeria to strengthen domestic production with the support of foreign technology and know-how. So it comes as no surprise that many multinational market leaders already opened offices and run production sites. Against this backdrop the German trade fair specialists fairtrade organise the 2nd edition of agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria. This professional international industry gathering is scheduled for 26 to 28 April 2016 at the Landmark Centre on Victoria Island in Lagos. Notable global players trust in this leading food-tec and packaging event and already booked their exhibition space.

According to VDMA-The German Engineering Association, Nigeria is one of Africa’s top 3 importers of agrofood technology. Between 2010 and 2014 Nigerian imports of food processing and packaging technology have increased from 198 million Euros to 381 million Euros, an annual growth rate of 18 per cent. In the same period imports of agricultural machinery and equipment went up from 97 million Euros to 119 million Euros, an annual growth rate of 5 per cent.

The fact that Nigeria's plastprintpack sector is in the focal point of foreign suppliers is underlined by the import figures for machinery and technology. In the same period imports of packaging technology increased by an annual growth rate of 24 per cent up to 201 million Euros, printing technology imports went up by 45 per cent to 75 million Euros and plastics technology imports annually grew by 13 per cent.

“We must go back to agriculture”…

… as the new President Muhammadu Buhari stated. It is obvious that he will continue the policy of the former government in terms of supporting agriculture and food production.

The German trade fair specialists fairtrade realised this great potential and successfully established the professional international industry gathering agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria in 2015. Notable international market and technology leaders as well as national pavilions trust in this benchmark event for Nigeria and already booked their exhibition space for the 2nd edition, to be held from 26 to 28 April 2016 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.

Institutional support by highest authorities

As in 2015, the European Union officially supports the international trade show agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria 2016. This becomes evident from a letter of 23 June 2015 of Michel Arrion, Head of Delegation and Ambassador of the European Union – Delegation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to the Economic Community of West Africa States. Further trust in this event is given by VDMA hosting a German Pavilion and by adepta who support the French Pavilion on 260 square meters, featuring French Bakery LIVE!
